Election Results


The Yellow Return Envelopes should now be delivered to the Municipal Office at 157101 Highway 10. The office is open Monday to Friday – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For after hours, please be advised
that we have a secure (locked) drop-off box to the left of the front door where the Yellow Return Envelopes can be dropped off and appointed Election Staff will retrieve them and place them
into the ballot box. Should you have any questions, please contact Denise Holmes,

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
Election Day is Monday, October 25, 2010

VOTE BY MAIL will be the voting method used by the Township of Melancthon

The Township of Melancthon will be using Vote by Mail as its method of voting for the 2010 municipal elections. Voting packages will be mailed to voters who are on the Voters List (by 4:30 p.m. on September 10, 2010 – see below) beginning on September 27, 2010.  If you do not receive your voting kit by October 8, 2010 please contact the Municipal Office at 519-925-5525 or attend at the Municipal Office, 157101 Highway 10. 

Each voting kit will contain an instruction sheet with an attached declaration form, a ballot, a white secrecy envelope for the ballot and a yellow return envelope. No postage is required.


ATTENTION VOTERS - ARE YOU ON THE VOTER’S LIST?

The Preliminary List of Electors is now available for inspection.  In order to vote in the upcoming Municipal Election on Monday, October 25, 2010, your name must be entered on the Voters List.  To be qualified to vote in the Municipal Election, you must:

TO BE QUALIFIED TO VOTE IN THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION YOU MUST:

FOR RESIDENTS

  • RESIDE IN YOUR MUNICIPALITY ON OCTOBER 25, 2010, AND
  • BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN, AND
  • BE EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE ON OR BEFORE ELECTION DAY, OCTOBER 25, 2010, AND
  • NOT BE PROHIBITED BY LAW 

NON-RESIDENTS

  • BE OWNERS OR TENANTS OF LAND IN YOUR MUNICIPALITY, OR THE SPOUSE OF AN OWNER OR TENANT OF LAND IN YOUR MUNICIPALITY ON OCTOBER 25, 2010, AND
  • BE A CANADIAN CITIZEN, AND
  • BE EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE ON OR BEFORE ELECTION DAY, OCTOBER 25, 2010, AND.
  • NOT BE PROHIBITED BY LAW

ALL VOTERS SHOULD EXAMINE THE VOTERS' LIST TO ENSURE THAT THEIR NAMES AND RELEVANT INFORMATION ARE CORRECTLY SHOWN.

AMENDMENTS TO VOTERS’ LIST

Applications for changes are available in the Clerk's Department of your Municipal Office.  Revisions to the list can be made at the following times at the Clerk's Department:

  • Own name - September 7 to October 25, 2010 (during business hours at the Municipal Office).  Because Melancthon Township is doing Vote by Mail, Electors added to the Voter’s List by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 will receive a Vote by Mail Kit in the mail.  Electors added to the Voter’s List from September 13, 2010 to 8:00 p.m. on October 25, 2010 (during business hours), must pick up their Vote By Mail Kit at the Municipal Office.
  • Applications to Remove another persons name - September 7 to 10, 2010 (during business hours at the Municipal Office)

SCHOOL SUPPORT

YOU MAY BE AN ENGLISH PUBLIC, FRENCH PUBLIC, ENGLISH SEPARATE OR FRENCH SEPARATE SCHOOL SUPPORTER, PLEASE NOTE, YOU MUST BE CATHOLIC TO BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE FOR A SEPARATE SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE.


The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is presenting another Candidates Information Session on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. This session will concentrate on the financial aspects of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Please advise Linda Knight, County of Dufferin if you will be attending at 519-941-2816 ext 2505.  Location and time are as before – Mel Lloyd Centre Auditorium, Shelburne at 7pm.

The Township of Melancthon will be using the Vote by Mail system for the 2010 Municipal Election on October 25, 2010.  More information will follow at a later date.
